Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon 30th Anniversary Edition 2009
30 years ago today, on the 24th of March 1973, Pink Floyd released their most famous album “Dark Side of the Moon”, which is considered one of the top albums in the history of Rock music.
Released on the EMI label, “Dark Side of the Moon” featured the band formed by Roger Waters (bass, vocals, synth), David Gilmour (guitar, vocals, synth), Rick Right (keyboards), and Nick Mason (drums). The album was recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and was produced by Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons, who also engineered the album with Chris Thomas. It also featured the collaborations of Dick Parry (sax), Clare Torry (vocals), and Doris Troy with Leslie Duncan, Liza Strike, and Barry St John on backing vocals.
In “Dark Side of the Moon” Pink Floyd brilliantly combined techniques of loops, sequential synthesis, sampling, and drew a creative bridge between Rock and Ambient and experimental and Avant-Garde music. The album sold 25 million copies in its first 25 years of release.
